SUBJECT: A briefing providing updates regarding public participation analysis with SA2020.

SUMMARY:

The Government and Public Affairs Department and SA2020 will provide the Community Health and Equity Committee with an update on the process to review public engagement practices by the City of San Antonio to allow for meaningful participation by residents in the policymaking process.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The Government and Public Affairs Department has contracted with SA2020 to facilitate a review of public participation practices across the organization. As part of this process, SA2020 has conducted an initial analysis of the City’s public engagement efforts. This analysis included reviewing current policies and procedures, past surveys and responses.

To better understand the level of understanding and execution of public participation activities across the organization, SA2020 designed and issued a survey to City staff, which included executives and staff who conduct outreach activities, as well as to Mayor and Council offices.

SA2020 will provide a briefing regarding key takeaways from the survey and will preview the next phase of the project, which will include focus groups with community members who have engaged with the City.
