BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Elections ordered are conducted in accordance with the Voting Rights Act, Texas Election Code, Local Government Code, and all other applicable law.
ISSUE:
This ordinance will Order the General City Election to be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 and Run-off Election to be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, if necessary.
ALTERNATIVES:
N/A
FISCAL IMPACT:
The ordinance contracting with the Bexar County Elections Administrator for Election Services will be presented to the Mayor and City Council at a later date. The contract will denote the cost to the City of San Antonio for the May 1, 2021 General Election.
The Run-off Election, if necessary, is scheduled for Saturday, June 5, 2021.
Funding is appropriated and available in the Adopted Municipal Elections General Fund Budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
The Office of the City Clerk, in coordination with the Office of the City Attorney, requests that the City of San Antonio officially order the General Election for Saturday, May 1, 2021 and Run-off Election to be held on Saturday, June 5, 2021, if necessary.
