SUBJECT:                     SARAH Legislative Priorities

At the Intergovernmental Relations Committee meeting on February 10th, Katie Vela, Executive Director of the South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless, and Eric Samuels, CEO of the Texas Homeless Network will provide a briefing of their organizations’ state and federal legislative priorities.

 

Organizational Background

SARAH is the federally designated Continuum of Care (CoC) lead agency for San Antonio and Bexar County. As the CoC lead, SARAH works with the Department of Housing and Urban Development to assist in providing funding, planning and coordination with local partners.

 

The Texas Homeless Network (THN) is a non-profit organization that helps communities plan to prevent and end homelessness. The organization coordinates local and national advocacy efforts, data collection and research, and is the host agency for the Balance of State Continuum of Care. The Balance of State CoC provides services to areas of the state outside of metropolitan areas with their own local CoCs.
