SUBJECT: ADDR-SNC-20-12700001 World Heritage Street Name Changes
SUMMARY:
Street Name Change Case ADDR-SNC-20-12700001 (Council District 3 and 5): A request by the World Heritage Office for approval of a resolution to change multiple street segments within the World Heritage Area to improve wayfinding.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
City Council approved the 2017 Bond project through Ordinance 2017-06-01-0390. Part of the bond included signage and wayfinding improvements within the World Heritage Area to include street name changes. Public input was used to develop a World Heritage Area Work Plan. This work plan included signage and wayfinding improvements. A study was completed in 2016 which recommended that the renaming of some surface streets would help eliminate confusion by creating a near continuous Mission Road that would serve as the World Heritage Trail.
Analysis and Notification Process:
This street name change was processed in accordance with Chapter 6 Section 672(d)(4) of the City Code that allows for renaming of streets for wayfinding purposes.
This Street Name Change would require 10 address changes along the affected segments.
The segments consist of approximately twenty-eight thousand one hundred and eighty-six (28,186) linear feet and 22 public signs.
Inter-departmental Technical Review:
All City Departments reviewed the proposed request in accordance with Chapter 6 Section 675 of the City Code. The technical review included:

Development Services Department received no concerns from any reviewing agency. In addition, the United States Postal Service approved the proposed street name change on October 14, 2020, in accordance with Chapter 6 Section 675 of the City Code and Chapter 35 Section 506(h) of the Unified Development Code (“UDC”).

None.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Planning Commission may recommend approval of all, some, or none of the proposed street name changes. Denial of this request will result in all streets retaining their existing names.
FISCAL IMPACT:
The anticipated costs for the project totals $4,344.64. This includes an application fee of $1,000.00, signage replacement fee of $2,903.64, and notification fees of $4.50 per notice. All costs have been paid by applicant.
RECOMMENDATION:
This proposed street name change meets the criteria of Chapter 6 Section 672(d)(4) of the City Code. Staff recommends Approval.
