Contract Award: World Heritage Trail Signage & Wayfinding (New Signage & Package 5)


SUMMARY:

Consideration of the following items related to the World Heritage Trail Signage & Wayfinding Project, a 2017 Bond funded project, located in Council Districts 1, 3, and 5:

A. An ordinance accepting the lowest responsive bid and awarding a construction contract to Comet Signs LLC in the amount of $566,785.74 for World Heritage Trail Signage & Wayfinding New Signage. Funds are available from the 2017 - 2022 General Obligation Bond Program and are included in the FY 2021 - FY 2026 Capital Improvement Program.

B. An ordinance accepting the lowest responsive bid and awarding a construction contract to Comet Signs LLC in the amount of $235,349.31 for World Heritage Trail Signage & Wayfinding Package 5. Funds are available from the 2017 - 2022 General Obligation Bond Program and are included in the FY 2021 - FY 2026 Capital Improvement Program.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background
On May 6, 2017 voters approved the 2017 Bond Program which authorized $5,000,000.00 for the World Heritage Trail Signage & Wayfinding Project located in Council District s 1, 3, and 5. This project will consist of new comprehensive World Heritage signage and wayfinding related to infrastructure along the World Heritage Trail to provide guidance to residents and visitors to the San Antonio Missions and improve the overall experience of the World Heritage area.

The World Heritage Trail hike-and-bike system provides pedestrian, bicycle, and vehicular routes that link the City of San Antonio's five Spanish colonial missions: San Antonio de Valero (the Alamo), Concepci?n, San Jos?, San Juan, and Espada.
