SUMMARY:

An ordinance accepting the lowest responsive bid and awarding a construction contract to E-Z Bel Construction, LLC in the amount of $5,286,187.48 of which $568,914.10 will be reimbursed by San Antonio Water System (SAWS) and $139,815.00 will be reimbursed by CPS Energy for the Fredericksburg Road (North Flores Street to West Woodlawn Avenue) project, a 2017 Bond funded project, located in Council District 1. Funds are available from the 2017 - 2022 General Obligation Bond Program and are included in the FY 2021 - FY 2026 Capital Improvement Program.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background
On May 6, 2017, voters approved the 2017 Bond Program which authorized $8,000,000.00 for street and sidewalk improvements for the Fredericksburg Road (North Flores Street to West Woodlawn Avenue) project located in Council District 1.

The project will provide for a road transformation of Fredericksburg Road to include the conversion of a four-lane street to a three-lane street from Culebra Road to Cincinnati Avenue and the conversion of a four-lane street to a two-lane street from Cincinnati Avenue to West Craig Place. The project will also provide for other corridor improvements consisting of a mill and overlay of the street, curbs, sidewalks, driveways, traffic signal upgrades, pavement markings, bike lanes, lane reconfiguration, drainage and utility upgrades from Culebra Road to Cincinnati Avenue. The additive alternate included as part of this project will provide for the same improvements constructed from Culebra Road to Cincinnati Avenue to be constructed from Cincinnati Avenue to West Craig Place excluding bike lanes.
