Family Restroom/Adult Changing Station Project in Terminal B at the San Antonio International Airport
SUMMARY:
This ordinance accepts a task order with Alpha Building Corporation (Alpha) for the Family Restroom/Adult Changing Station project in Terminal B at the San Antonio International Airport in an amount not to exceed $109,991.54. Funding is available from the FY 2021 Aviation Capital Budget and is included in the FY 2021 - FY 2026 Capital Improvement Program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Over the past few years, the Aviation Department has been focused on making the airport experience for travelers to the San Antonio International Airport accessible for all. One focus has been to renovate current facilities to install adult changing stations in existing family restrooms in the terminals to provide sufficient space and privacy for adults with disabilities to use to reduce the stress of lying with a disability.
The Aviation Department is utilizing Alpha, a Job Order Contractor (JOC), to accommodate one adult changing station in an existing family restroom in Terminal B next to Gate 3. Alpha will procure the changing table and necessary infrastructure work including demolition, framing, plumbing and other services as needed. Alpha is one of the approved JOC contractors through Ordinance 2018-10-11-0809 that provide the alternative project delivery method for construction, renovation, rehabilitation and maintenance projects for the San Antonio Airport System
ISSUE:
City Council authorization is required for any task orders issued to a JOC that is valued over $100,000.00.
ALTERNATIVES:
