SUBJECT:
Appointments to the SABC Soccer PFC Board of Directors.
SUMMARY:
An Ordinance appointing Alejandra Lopez (City of San Antonio), Patricia Muzquiz Cantor (City of San Antonio), and Thomas Guevara (Bexar County) to the SABC Soccer PFC Board of Directors for the remainder of unexpired terms of office to expire May 31, 2023.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Texas Local Government Code, Chapter 303, authorizes municipalities to create one or more nonmember, nonstock, nonprofit public facility corporations to act on behalf on the sponsoring municipality to provide public facilities or facilities related to the renovation, expansion, redevelopment, construction, acquisition, provision, conveyance, leasing, owning, operating, and divesting of real property of the City.
On December 17, 2015, the City Council adopted resolution 2015-12-17-0068R which created the SABC Soccer PFC, appointed four (4) board directors, and authorized the Corporation to exercise powers for the purpose of supporting professional soccer within the City.
As the Governing Body of the Corporation, the San Antonio City Council is authorized to appoint four (4) directors with the City and Bexar County each recommending two (2) appointees.
ISSUE:
The City Council, in its capacity as the governing body of the Corporation, is required to approve all director appointments.
ALTERNATIVES:
The Office of the City Clerk will continue to coordinate with the City Council on the filling of SABC Soccer PFC director seats.
FISCAL IMPACT:
There is no fiscal impact.
RECOMMENDATION:
In order to proceed with the direction of the City Council, the Office of the City Clerk recommends approval of appointments to the SABC Soccer PFC Board of Directors.
