Cite and Release Update
SUMMARY:
The Department will provide the Public Safety Committee it’s cite and release report for the period of January 1, 2021 through March 31, 2021 which represents the third quarter of the second year of the program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
On July 1, 2019, the San Antonio Police Department, in coordination with the Bexar County District Attorney, implemented an expanded cite and release program for Bexar County residents. As part of the program evaluation process, both the SAPD and Bexar County District Attorney’s Office committed to providing quarterly updates to the Public Safety Committee.
The update will also provide information on the effectiveness of the program in allowing the Department to achieve its objective of enhancing officer availability throughout the city.
