DEPARTMENT: Center City Development and Operations Department
Office of Urban Redevelopment (OUR SA)
DEPARTMENT HEAD: John Jacks
COUNCIL DISTRICTS IMPACTED: 5
SUBJECT:
Sale and disposition of surplus properties owned by the Office of Urban Redevelopment San Antonio ("OUR SA")
SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes the sale and disposition of 5 properties currently owned by OUR SA, located in Council District 5.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The subject properties are described below. All five properties are located in Council District 5. All properties were originally acquired by the Urban Renewal Agency for the City of San Antonio in 1995 and have remained vacant since that time. The current value combined for all properties per the Bexar County Appraisal District (BCAD) is $28,640.00.
Since acquisition by OUR SA, the properties have required clean up maintenance on a regular basis. They are underutilized and add no value to their adjacent neighborhoods or the City of San Antonio.
The properties have been advertised in City-wide publications and have been canvassed through the proper departments as required by the Urban Renewal Statute and the OUR SA Board of Commissioners.
ISSUE:
Bids for the properties were received by OUR SA and approved by the Board of Commissioners during the June 2017 Board meeting to sell the properties to Our Casas for the construction of affordable housing.
OUR SA is now seeking City Council approval of the sale of all properties listed below:
