SUBJECT:

Partner Design and Construction Agreement with National Park Service for the Hike and Bike project at Stinson Municipal Airport

SUMMARY:

This ordinance authorizes a partner design and construction agreement with the National Park Service (NPS) of the United States Department of the Interior to allow the design and construction of a public access pedestrian foot bridge as part of the Hike and Bike project at Stinson Municipal Airport that will cross the Acequia de Espada on land owned by the National Park Service. The agreement outlines the terms and conditions under which the City will design, construct and donate to the NPS for use to cross the Acequia De Espada. Throughout the development and design of this project, the NPS has been an engaged and supportive partner.

This agreement is aligned with the United States Code which authorizes the NPS to accept donations for purposes of the NPS; authorizes the Secretary of the Interior to accept and use contributions for cooperative projects with local municipalities as well as entering into agreements with these entities to share costs and services in support of NPS projects; and, authorizes the NPS to take actions to further the NPS mission.
