SUMMARY:

An ordinance for Wilson Boulevard (Club Drive to Donaldson Avenue) & Thespian Island, a 2012-2017 Bond-funded Project, located in Council District 7, awarding a construction contract in the amount of $808,105.00 to E-Z Bel Construction, LLC., of which $29,000.00 will be reimbursed by San Antonio Water Systems (SAWS) and $173,290.00 will be reimbursed by CPS Energy.



BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background
The 2012-2017 General Obligation Bond Program authorized $1,000,000.00 for the Wilson Boulevard (Club Drive to Donaldson Avenue) & Thespian Island Project. Of this amount $605,815.00 will be used for construction. The remaining $394,185.00 will be used for design services, environmental services, advertising and project management, with any leftover funds to be realized as bond savings.

Project scope includes street resurfacing along Wilson Boulevard (Club Drive to Donaldson Ave.), and the reconstruction of sidewalks and curbs on the west side of Wilson (Club Drive to Donaldson Avenue). Project scope also includes is the construction of a curbed center grassy median that provides pedestrian refuge; providing added safety for the students who cross Kampmann Boulevard going to and from Thomas Jefferson High School. The City's Transportation and Capital Improvements Department (TCI) coordinated with San Antonio Independent School District officials throughout the design process to maximize the benefits for both traffic operations and pedestrian safety adjacent to Thomas Jefferson High School.
