SUMMARY:

An Ordinance for Peggy Drive Extension, a 2012-2017 General Obligation Bond funded Project, located in Council District 2, awarding a construction contract in the amount of $1,799,179.62 to CRG.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The 2012-2017 General Obligation Bond Program authorized $5,600,000.00 for the Peggy Drive Extension Project, and of that amount, $1,799,179.62 will be used for construction. As part of the Peggy Drive Extension Project, a previous ordinance was approved that provided Koch Pipeline Company with $1,021,959.00 to move their privately owned gas pipeline to allow for this project to occur. The remaining $2,778,861.38 shall be used for design services, environmental services, advertising, property acquisition and project management, with any leftover funds to be realized as bond savings.

This contract provides for a new 30-foot roadway of approximately 0.30 miles in length to connect the Eastgate subdivision to Houston Street. Project improvements also include a new span bridge, the addition of 4-foot sidewalks, curbs, driveway approaches and drainage improvements throughout the Project limits. Bike lanes were not included in this design of the new roadway due to width limitations as well this street not currently included in the Bicycle Master Plan. A community meeting was held on December 17, 2013 at Iglesia Adventista to inform the community of the Project details and to coordinate with businesses and residents. Project construction is anticipated to begin in July 2015 and is estimated to be completed by March 2016. Construction activities will take place six days a week, sun rise to sun down.
