SUMMARY:

An Ordinance for the Milam Wesley Tealer Park Improvements Project authorizing a Job Order Contract to Straight Line Management for construction improvements in an amount not to exceed $172,000.00, a 2012-2017 Bond-funded project located in Council District 2.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background
Under the voter approved 2012-2017 Bond Program, $250,000.00 was approved for park improvements at Milam Wesley Tealer Park, (formerly Lakeside Park renamed through ordinance 2014-01-09-0018). An amount not to exceed $172,000.00 will be utilized for construction with any remaining funds to be used for design services, environmental services and project management.

A public input meeting was held in September 2013 to gather feedback for the Milam Wesley Tealer Park Project. As a result of the community input, Milam Wesley Tealer Park improvements will provide for replacement of the granite gravel loop trail with new granite gravel. The approximate length of the trail is 3,200 linear feet. The project also provides for the installation of a 30 foot by 60 foot shade structure for the existing playground. Project construction is anticipated to begin September 2015 and estimated to be completed by December 2015.

Coordination will be made with the Parks and Recreation Department to ensure accommodations are made to keep the majority of the park accessible to patrons during construction.
