SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes acceptance of a contract with Silsbee Ford to provide the City of San Antonio Police Department with two SUVs for a total cost of $64,056.70. Funding for this purchase is available from the Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund (ERRF).

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the attached offer from Silsbee Ford to provide the San Antonio Police Department with two SUVs for a total cost of $64,056.70. These units will be purchased from Silsbee Ford utilizing the Buyboard cooperative purchasing contract number 430-13.

This purchase will provide two replacement units to the City's fleet. These units are funded through the City of San Antonio's Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund (ERRF) for a total cost of $64,056.70 which includes a $400.00 Buyboard Cooperative Fee. These units are for daily operational use by Police Department administrative staff. The life expectancy of the new equipment is 96 months.

Vehicles and equipment that meet their expected life cycle are usually sold at auction but are sometimes traded-in to the selling dealer. If the Fleet asset is in the ERRF then the proceeds are returned to the fund. The proceeds are then used to purchase new similar vehicles and equipment for the same department that operated the sold fleet asset. The equipment being replaced will be sold at auction.
