SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes the acceptance of a contract with Silsbee Ford to provide the Transportation and Capital Improvements Department with five Aerial Lift Bucket Trucks for a total cost of $729,449.00 funded through the City of San Antonio's Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund (ERRF) and Transportation and Capital Improvements Department's Stormwater Operations and Advanced Transportation District Funds.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the attached offer from Silsbee Ford to provide the Transportation and Capital Improvements (TCI) Department with five aerial lift bucket trucks for a total cost of $729,449.00. This equipment is used on a daily basis and is critical for the maintenance and operation of the City's 1,381 traffic signals. These units will be purchased from Silsbee Ford utilizing Buyboard cooperative purchasing contract number 430-13.

This purchase will provide four replacement units and one additional unit to the City's fleet. The four replacement units will be funded through the City of San Antonio's Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund (ERRF) and TCI's Advanced Transportation District Fund while the additional unit will be funded through TCI's Advanced Transportation District and Stormwater Operations Funds for a total cost of $729,449.00 which includes a $400.00 Buyboard Cooperative Fee. Currently, there are 13 aerial lift bucket trucks assigned to the department. The life expectancy of the new equipment is 96 months.

Based on thorough research and knowledge of the industry, the Building and Equipment Services Department, Fleet Acquisitions Division could not identify any viable alternative fueled equipment that would be available to meet the current requirements.
