Cupples Road (Merida Street to Castroville Road)
SUMMARY:
An Ordinance for the Cupples Road Project (Merida Street to Castroville Road) awarding a construction contract in the amount of $6,313,852.35 to Jordan Foster Construction of which $1,224,677.00 will be reimbursed by San Antonio Water Systems and $1,648,422.50 will be reimbursed by CPS Energy, a 2012-2017 Bond-funded project, located in Council District 5.

Project Background
The 2012-2017 General Obligation Bond Program authorized $6,504,000 for Cupples Road (Merida Street to Castroville Road) of which $3,440,752.85 will be used for construction with the balance of funds to be used for property acquisition, design services, environmental services, advertising and project management.
This Project provides for the reconstruction and widening of Cupples Road, from Merida Street to Castroville Road, to two 10-foot lanes, including an 11-foot center turn lane, curbs, sidewalks, driveway approaches and two dedicated 5-foot bicycle lanes. In addition, traffic and drainage improvements are included with this Project. Project construction is anticipated to begin in January 2016 and estimated to be completed by June 2017. Construction activities will take place six days a week, sun up to sun down.
Procurement of Services.
This Project was advertised for construction bids in the San Antonio Hart Beat, on the City's website and the Texas Electronic State Business Daily in July 2015. In addition, the bid announcement was made on TVSA and through TCI. Plans also were available for review by potential bidders at the office of TEDSI Infrastructure Group, located at 15920 Reyes Ridge, Helotes, Texas, 78023.
