SUMMARY:

An ordinance for the Fire Station 18 Replacement Project authorizing a construction contract with F.A. Nunnelly Co. in the not to exceed 4,337,200.00, a 2012 General Obligation Bond and Certificates of Obligation-funded Project, located in Council District 2.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background
On May 12, 2012, voters approved the 2012-2017 Bond Program which allocated $6,098,000 for the Fire Station 18 Replacement.

Built in 1956, the existing Fire Station 18 is located at 1463 South W.W. White Road. Over time the building has required more frequent and extensive repairs, and the building is reaching the end of its useful life. The new 14,900-square-foot fire station will include three apparatus bays, one EMS bay, one antique apparatus display bay with public art, a kitchen, dining and living areas, dormitories, offices, an exercise room, laundry rooms and associated site and utilities work. Project construction is anticipated to begin April 2016 and is estimated to be completed by April 2017.

Procurement of Services
A Request for Competitive Sealed Proposals (RFCSP) was released in December 2015.
This RFCSP was advertised in the San Antonio Hart Beat, on the City's website, on the Texas Electronic State Business Daily and on TVSA. Responses were due on February 9, 2016 and three (3) responsive submittals were received. A selection committee consisting of representatives from the City Manager's Office, Transportation and Capital Improvements and the San Antonio Fire Department evaluated and ranked the submissions and scored the proposals.
