SUBJECT:

An Ordinance authorizing the execution of a traffic study Reimbursement Agreement in an amount not to exceed $18,000.00 with Centro San Antonio.

SUMMARY:

City Council is being asked to consider an Ordinance authorizing the execution of a traffic study Reimbursement Agreement in an amount not to exceed $18,000.00 with Centro San Antonio within the Midtown TIRZ #31.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

On January 29, 2016, staff from Centro San Antonio (Centro) addressed the Midtown TIRZ #31 Board requesting funding support to complete a traffic study along a section of Broadway. Centro stated that they had private funding in place to conduct a traffic study along Broadway from Houston Street to Mulberry and Lion's Field. Centro was requesting reimbursement funding for the section of Broadway from Mulberry to Hildebrand. These traffic studies are being conducted by M.I.G. and Parsons Brinckerhoff to develop an initial visioning concept effort that has support from cultural corridor representatives, art groups, and private property owners which have contributed funding to support the concept plan.

On February 26, 2016, the Midtown TIRZ #31 Board approved a Resolution authorizing the expenditure of up to $18,000.00 to conduct a traffic study on a section of upper Broadway Avenue and to authorize staff to negotiate and execute an Agreement with Centro San Antonio for such services.
