SUBJECT:

STREET NAME CHANGE CASE S16-002 (District 10): An ordinance authorizing the street name change of "Van Buren Lane" to "Pape Farms Lane" between the cross streets of Woodbury Drive and Worldland Road in City Council District 10, San Antonio, Texas.

SUMMARY:

Case No.: S16-002

Applicant: Gerron S. Hite, property owner

Current Street name: Van Buren Lane

Requested Street name: Pape Farms Lane

Reason for request: In accordance with Section 6-672(d)(8) of the City Code, change of a street's existing name should be done for a significant reason. This request is being made to recognize the Pape Family for its contribution of agricultural production in the San Antonio area. More recently, El Camino Real signs were installed in the neighborhood to depict the significance. The original homestead is owned by Mr. Hite and fronts on Van Buren Lane.

General Location: Between U. S. Hwy 90 and Commerce Street

Recommendation: Staff recommends approval.

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Planning Commission Hearing Date: June 8, 2016 - Planning Commission recommended approval

Location: Between Woodbury Dr. and Worldland Rd.

Street Segment Size: Approximately five hundred fifty (550) Linear Feet

Notification:

-Notices mailed June 2, 2016 to eight (8) property owners abutting the segment of the street proposed for a name change; however, only the applicant's address will be required to change.
-To the present, staff has received no written response from the adjacent property owners.
