BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background
The Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) has a study being developed that will detail the direct and indirect economic costs for non-attainment. As a companion study, the City will conduct a public health study for non-attainment. This study will assess the public health impact analysis of ozone non-attainment. The goal of this work is to estimate the health impacts of ambient ozone pollution to Bexar County residents of all ages and to estimate the direct and indirect costs of asthma and other ozone-related illnesses on the general public, especially school-age children. Specifically, the study will estimate the number of heart attacks, respiratory illnesses and mortality for all ages under three (3) different exposure scenarios.

Ramboll Environ US Corporation will develop a "Health Impact Assessment for Non-Attainment on Public Health" study that will complement the Alamo Area Council of Governments "Economic Cost of Non-Attainment Study" and the SA Tomorrow Sustainability Plan. This final report is expected to be released in the summer of 2017.
