SUBJECT:

Construction Awards for Runway 13R Rehabilitation - Package 5 at the San Antonio International Airport


SUMMARY:

Consideration of following two items related to the Federal Aviation Administration Airport Improvement Program for the San Antonio International Airport:

A. This Ordinance authorizes a construction contract with SpawGlass Civil Construction, Inc. for Runway 13R Rehabilitation - Package 5 project in the amount of $4,368,679.15. This project was part of the grant application for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Improvement Program (AIP) that City Council authorized in June 2017 through Ordinance 2017-06-29-0517. The FAA notified the City that it had awarded an AIP grant in the amount of $5,656,278.00. The City is providing its match in the amount of $1,885,427.00 from Interim Financing and previously appropriated Airport Capital Improvement Funds.
B. This Ordinance authorizes an amendment with Kimley-Horn and Associates, Inc. (KHA) in an amount not to exceed $1,985,500.42 for construction administration, resident project representation, project management, environmental construction oversight, and inspection services and additional design services for the project. The FAA grant portion of the project is in the amount of $1,084,406.00, while the City's match is $369,315.71 from Airport Capital Improvement Funds. The additional design services in the amount of $531,778.71 will be funded with Airport Capital Improvement Funds. The grant includes the reimbursement to the City in the amount of $513,765.00 for previously completed design services.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
