SUMMARY:
An ordinance accepting the offer from Doggett Freightliner of South Texas, LLC to provide one replacement aerial bucket truck for a total cost of $142,818.62 for the Transportation & Capital Improvements Department. Funding is available from the FY 2018 Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund Budget (ERRF).
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Submitted for City Council consideration and action is the offer submitted by Doggett Freightliner of South Texas, LLC, utilizing the TXMAS cooperative contract 071-072 to provide one replacement aerial bucket truck for a total cost of $142,818.62, funded from the ERRF.
This contract will provide the Transportation & Capital Improvements Department with one replacement unit to the City's fleet. This aerial truck will be used to perform traffic signal light repairs throughout the City. Delivery of the new 41' aerial bucket truck will take approximately 240-360 days. There are currently 28 aerial bucket trucks operating in the City fleet.
ISSUE:
This contract will provide the Transportation & Capital Improvements with one aerial truck for a total cost of $142,818.62. Replacement of this unit is consistent with the City's Equipment Renewal and Replacement Fund. The department requested this particular aerial truck based upon past operational experience. Historically, the Altec aerial lift bodies have had lower repair costs and increased equipment availability.
These units will be purchased from Doggett Freightliner of South Texas, LLC utilizing the TXMAS cooperative contract number 071-072. This purchase is made in accordance with the State Cooperative program passed on resolution no. 91-39-53 dated 9/12/1991.
The life expectancy of this vehicle is 96 months. The engine is covered by a two year unlimited mileage warranty. The service body is covered by a 1 year parts and labor warranty.
