Advance Funding Agreements for Traffic Signal Upgrades
SUMMARY:
Consideration of an item related to the rebuilding of seven traffic signals as part of the Texas Department of Transportation's (TxDOT) Highway Safety Improvements Program (HSIP) and authorizing the execution of seven Advance Funding Agreements between the City of San Antonio and TxDOT in the total amount of $198,679.00 payable to TxDOT and accepting $1,634,900.00 in HSIP infrastructure in the rebuilding of traffic signals at the following locations:
Vance Jackson Road and La Manda Boulevard
Council District 1
New Braunfels Avenue and Steves Avenue
Council District 3
Pleasanton Road and Formosa Boulevard
Council District 3
Marbach Road and Horal Drive
Council Districts 4 & 6
Brownleaf Drive at Military Drive West
Council District 6
Callaghan Road and Ingram Road
Council Districts 6 & 7
Wurzbach Road at Bluemel Road
Council District 8
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The Highway Safety Improvements Program (HSIP) aims to eliminate or reduce the number and severity of traffic crashes. The program is limited to specific project and crash types identified in the Texas Strategic Highway Safety Plan (SHSP). The HSIP included funds for construction and operational improvements of qualifying projects that were located off the state highway system. Federal dollars are used to fund the program and the local government is required to provide a 10% match for construction funding, in addition to design and environmental costs.
