SUBJECT:

Authorizing the acceptance of supplemental funds from the Texas Department of State Health Services for the Title V Dental grant.



SUMMARY:

Ordinance No. 2017-01-12-0007, passed and approved on January 12, 2017, authorized a Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) Title V-Dental grant for the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District's Oral Health Program. These funds will be in addition to the current award that began September 1, 2017 and ends August 31, 2018. The supplemental funding is comprised of $60,000.00 from CFDA number 93.994.

The above referenced request for funding included a revised budget submitted on March 30, 2018.

Furthermore this ordinance authorizes the Director of the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (Metro Health) to initiate, negotiate, and execute any and all necessary documents to effectuate the acceptance of the referenced grant funds, to include executing an amendment pertaining to this contract, and the execution of additional contract amendments providing supplemental funds to the grant by the funding agency in an amount up to 20% of the total amount awarded to the grant to include the funds awarded under this ordinance.



BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

The San Antonio Metropolitan Health District (Metro Health) receives an annual award from the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) through the Title V Dental grant. This grant was previously approved by council on January 12, 2017, Ordinance No. 2017-01-12-0007, and provides dental services to children ages 0-21 who do not qualify for Medicaid and CHIP. Metro Health provides all enrollment and intake activities related to the Title V Dental grant and has partnered with the University Of Texas Health Science Center School Of Dentistry to provide direct patient care to enrolled children.
