Funding Appropriation and Contract Award: Alamodome East Hot Water Loop Repair
SUMMARY:
An ordinance awarding a construction contract to REC Industries, Inc. in the amount of $737,000.00 and appropriating funds in the total amount of $937,859.00 for the Alamodome East Hot Water Loop Repair Project in Council District 2. Funding for this project is available from the FY 2019 Community and Visitor Facilities Fund.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
The underground eastern section of the hot water loop piping at the Alamodome was installed as part of the original construction of the facility in 1993. Excessive leakage from the hot water loop piping resulted in an investigation which identified the piping was not working properly and has reached its life expectancy. The replacement of the piping is needed in order to efficiently regulate heating temperatures on the east side of the Alamodome facility.
Project construction is anticipated to begin May 2019 with an estimated completion date of September 2019. Construction activities will be coordinated with the Convention & Sports Facilities to ensure the Alamodome remains open and operational during construction.
Procurement of Services
This project was advertised for construction bids in the San Antonio Hart Beat, on the City's website, on the Texas Electronic State Business Daily, on electronic bidding site CIVCAST, on TVSA and through the TCI Small Business Office. Bids were opened on February 26, 2019 and three (3) bids were received. Of these, REC Industries, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive bid. A matrix of the bid outcome is included as an attachment.
