Contract Award: South Pine Street/Greer Street Phase 1 (2017 Bond Project)


SUMMARY:

An ordinance accepting the lowest responsive bid and awarding a construction contract to E-Z Bel Construction, LLC in the amount of $5,271,945.25 of which $1,191,094.95 will be reimbursed by San Antonio Water System (SAWS) and $198,797.80 will be reimbursed by CPS Energy for the South Pine Street/Greer Street Phase 1 Project, a 2017 Bond funded project, located in Council District 3.


BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Project Background
On May 6, 2017, voters approved the 2017 Bond Program which authorized $8,000,000.00 for drainage and flood control improvements for South Pine and Greer Street Phase 1 Project located in Council District 3.

The South Pine and Greer Street Phase 1 Project will provide for the construction of a storm drain system in the Highland Park area allowing flood relief to neighborhood streets and properties. Construction of the system includes three underground storm drains out falling into existing systems at the South Pine Street and I-37 frontage intersection, the Topeka Boulevard and I-37 frontage intersection and the Greer Street and Hackberry Street intersection. The project will also provide for the full-depth pavement reconstruction of Greer Street from Hackberry Street to South Pine Street, South Pine Street from Greer Street to I-37 frontage road and Topeka Boulevard from I-37 frontage road to Pine Street including curbs, sidewalks, driveway approaches and utility improvements.

Project construction is anticipated to begin in September 2019 and estimated to be completed by September 2020.
