Contract Award: Judson Road Sidewalks (IH 35 to Independence Avenue) Project
SUMMARY:
An ordinance accepting the lowest responsive bid and awarding a construction contract to Lone Star Sitework, LLC in the amount of $1,116,513.22 of which $968,000.00 will be funded by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and $19,825.00 will be reimbursed by San Antonio Water System (SAWS) for construction of the Judson Road Sidewalks (IH 35 to Independence Avenue) project, a previously authorized debt funded project, located in Council District 10. Funds are available from previously authorized debt proceeds and included in the FY 2020 - FY 2025 Capital Improvement Program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Project Background
As part of the City's commitment to maintaining and improving existing infrastructure, the City will construct sidewalks on Judson Road from Independence Avenue to Interstate 35 leveraging funding from TxDOT. The Judson Road Sidewalks project will provide for sidewalks, curbs, accessibility ramps and the mill and overlay of pavement along the west side of Judson Road. Project construction is anticipated to begin in July 2020 and estimated to be completed by March 2021.
This project was selected for funding through the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (AAMPO) Transportation Improvement Program (TIP). Local Agency Managed projects are managed by the City but receive federal funds administered through TxDOT. The funds paid to TxDOT by the City are for costs associated with oversight for administration of the federal funds.
