SUBJECT:

Olmos Dam Gate House Plumbing Repairs


SUMMARY:
This ordinance authorizes a contract with HJD Capital Electric, Inc. to provide labor, parts, materials, and equipment to install a new domestic water supply to the Olmos Dam restroom and janitor sink and replace the vertical duct iron sewer drain lines located at Olmos Dam Gate House for the Public Works Department. Funding for this contract in the amount of $74,535.06 is available through the FY 2021 - FY 2026 Capital Improvement Program.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Submitted for Council consideration and action is the bid submitted by HJD Capital Electric, Inc. in the amount of $74,535.06 to provide the Public Works Department with a new domestic water supply line that will service the Olmos Dam facility and replace damaged cast iron sewer drain lines. Upon completion of work, Public Works staff will have useable restroom facilities and drinking water at the Olmos Dam facility which is vital for staff performing routine maintenance and during storm events.

The City issued a Formal Invitation for Bid for (IFB 6100012599) for Olmos Dam Drain Repair on June 17, 2020 with submission deadline of July 10, 2020. Four bid responses were received. The lowest bid response received was deemed non-responsive since the bidder failed to submit the required bid bond. The second lowest bid response, HJD Capital Electric, Inc. met all bid specification requirements and is recommended for award.

The initial term of the agreement shall begin upon approval of the contract by City Council and shall terminate upon completion of all work described herein or delivery of all goods and services ordered as applicable.
