SUMMARY:

Briefing on Using the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails System as Mobility Options

BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

As a part of the Alamo Area Metropolitan Planning (AAMPO) Call for Projects submittal, conversations emerged regarding the City’s creekways and greenway trails as transportation alternatives considered for the competitive funding process.  City Council provided feedback to include additional conversation for the purpose of leveraging San Antonio creekway and trail projects for the purpose of leveraging current federal grant opportunities which promote multi-modal options.

The Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails System has been funded through the voter approved sales tax initiative from 2000-2015. Currently, the trail system consists of 82 miles of completed paved trails located in all 10 City Council districts, with 15 miles under construction and an additional 14 miles in design.
