Construction Contract for the Medina River Greenway Phase 3 Finalization Project
SUMMARY:
Ordinance authorizing a one-time capital improvement expenditure in the amount of $1,247,122.00 payable to Clearfield Construction, LLC for the Medina River Greenway Phase 3 Finalization Project located in Council District 3. Funding in the amount of $1,247,122.00 is available from the voter approved Sales Tax Venue funds included in the FY 2020 - FY 2025 Capital Improvement Program. Of that, $473,927.10 will be reallocated from the Citywide Creekway Trail Development Project to the Medina River Greenway Phase 3 Finalization Project. Upon project completion, funding for associated operating expenses will be addressed through the City's annual budget process.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
This ordinance approves a construction contract with Clearfield Construction, LLC for the Medina River Greenway Phase 3 Finalization Project. Design work was performed by Bain Medina Bain, Inc. The Medina River Greenway Phase 3 Finalization Project consists of the completion of a concrete bridge at Leon Creek, a new prefabricated bridge at the Medina River, a concrete boardwalk, retaining wall repairs, pedestrian railing, and other miscellaneous items in order to complete the Medina River Greenway Phase 3 project.
The proposed projects are part of a growing network of interconnected hike and bike trails now known as the Howard W. Peak Greenway Trails system, which is funded through sales tax initiatives approved by voters in 2000, 2005, 2010, and 2015. The objectives of the program are to acquire and preserve open space along San Antonio creekways and to develop multi-use hike and bike trails, trailheads, signage, and associated amenities for use by San Antonio residents and visitors.
