Contract Award: District 6 Parks (Westwood Village Park & Levi Strauss Park)
SUMMARY:
An ordinance accepting the lowest responsive bid and awarding a construction contract including two additive alternates in the amount of $592,744.00 to Crownhill Builders, Inc. for the District 6 Parks (Westwood Village Park & Levi Strauss Park) Project, a 2017 Bond funded project, located in Council District 6.
BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Project Background
The approved 2017 Bond Program included $828,000.00 for District 6 Park improvements. The Project will provide for improvements at Levis Strauss Park and Westwood Village Park within District 6. The improvements at Levi Strauss Park include the installation of a shade structure over the basketball half-court and the installation of exercise equipment adjacent to the court. Improvements at Westwood Village Park include the installation of several shade structures inside the pool area, the addition of furniture and drainage on the pool deck, the installation of a shade structure and additional furniture near the playground and a loop concrete walking trail outside the pool area fence. Construction is anticipated to begin in December 2019 and estimated to be completed by May 2020.
Procurement of Services
This project was advertised on August 23, 2019 for construction bids in the San Antonio Hart Beat, on the City's website, on the Texas Electronic State Business Daily, on TVSA, through the electronic bidding site CivCast and through the TCI Small Business Office. Bids were opened on September 17, 2019 and six (6) bids were received. Of these, Crownhill Builders, Inc. submitted the lowest responsive bid. A matrix of the bid outcome is included herein.
